tattered pages
coffee stained
and bent
abused
but in a loving way
dropped in the tub
kicked across the room
shoved in the bottom of a bag
words
read thousands of times
until the story
is known by heart
then read once again
the ending never changes
the story always the same
but that doesn't matter
the enjoyment remains
